RepeatLab and its alternatives
Last updated:
Several apps help musicians loop and slow down music. This page lists what each app states about itself on its official store listing, so you can pick the one that fits how you practice. We only include claims we could read on those listings; anything not listed there is left out. Prices and features change, so check the linked store pages for the current details.
RepeatLab
- iOS and Android. Free download; Pro as in-app purchase: weekly €0.99, yearly €11.99 (both with a 3-day free trial) or lifetime €35.99.
- A-B loops with millisecond fine-tuning; one loop per song free, multiple named, color-coded loops with Pro.
- Speed 0.5× to 2.0× in 0.1 steps without changing pitch, BPM mode up to 400 and tap tempo (Pro). Pitch shift up to 12 semitones (Pro, beta).
- Your own audio (MP3, WAV, OGG, FLAC, M4A, AAC) and video files (MP4, MOV, M4V, MKV, WEBM, AVI). No Spotify or Apple Music import, and no YouTube looping yet.
- WAV loop export (free), library backup to a local file (Pro), fully offline, no account, no ads, analytics opt-in.
Amazing Slow Downer
Developer: Roni Music
- Separate paid apps for iPhone/iPad, Mac and Android (no in-app purchases listed); a free Android “Lite” version plays only the first quarter of a file.
- Speed from 25% to 200% without changing the pitch (20% to 200% in the Mac app).
- Changes tuning or musical key (no range stated on the listing).
- Loops set with “Set” buttons during playback.
- Mac app: plays audio CDs, MP3, AAC/MP4, Ogg, FLAC, AIFF and WAV files and can export to other file formats.
- Streaming: the listings advise against buying the app to slow down Spotify content. On iOS, only Apple Music songs the user owns can be played at different speeds, and pitch change is not available for Apple Music songs. The Mac app does not support streaming services.

- Transposes by key up to ±24 semitones and fine-tunes by ±49 cents (Android listing).
- Marks to split a song into sections, AutoLoop between marks and a loop trainer.

Which one fits?
If you want to slow down songs from streaming services, Anytune and Slowify state support for that on their listings; RepeatLab does not support it. If you practice with your own audio and video files and want looping and speed control that works offline without an account, RepeatLab is built for that.
